About us

At Star Caterers, we believe food is more than nourishment—it’s the language of love and belonging. Founded by an African American Southern born Chef, Gloria Pressley grew up surrounded by the warmth of Sunday dinners, family reunions, and treasured recipes passed down through generations. These meals were never just about flavor—they were about stories, memories, and the unmatched comfort of home.

As a child watching family in the kitchen, she inherited more than recipes: she absorbed a legacy of resilience, creativity, and sense of community that defines Southern and soul food traditions.

Gloria channels that legacy into a commitment to bring families and communities together through exceptional cuisine. Whether it’s a soul food classic or an inspired dish from continents afar, each meal is crafted with heart, heritage, and a global perspective.

Our Story

“In our kitchen, every meal was a lesson—not just how to cook, but how to belong.” Growing up in a Southern African American household, Sunday dinners were sacred: a table loaded with dishes made from love and history. These early culinary experiences ignited a dream: to build a catering company that bridges generations and cultures, using food as the universal connector. The same recipes Gloria's family meticulously taught her are now shared with families from around the world—rekindling that feeling of home, no matter where you are.

Our Story

Uniting People One Plate at a Time

We cater events with a vision: to gather people around the table and forge connections across cultures. Rooted in the warmth of Southern hospitality, our menus celebrate:

  • Heirloom recipes from our family's kitchen.

  • Global flavors inspired by travel and cultural exchange—from West African stews to Latin fusion, Mediterranean fare to Asian–Southern mashups. Each dish is a bridge between cultures, as meaningful as it is delicious.

Gathering-centered experiences where food serves as the catalyst for community, storytelling, and laughter—just like potlucks, Sunday feasts, and holiday meals in the South.
